Iterate Relentlessly
Version 1 is never the final version
Version 1 is never the final version. Every project I've built has gotten better because I wasn't afraid to tear it apart and rebuild.
What This Means in Practice
I don't get attached to my first solution. G.H.O.S.T. has been rebuilt from scratch twice now — and each time it got dramatically better. The willingness to throw away code that works but isn't great is what separates good enough from excellent.
Iteration isn't just about fixing bugs. It's about constantly asking: "Now that I know more, how would I do this differently?"
Why It Matters
- First attempts are learning exercises, not final products
- Requirements change — your solution should too
- Each iteration compounds improvements
- Being willing to rebuild shows confidence, not failure
